About Samyak

Samyak Yoga Seattle is the first American yoga school from the Samyak lineage in India, where both Siri and Jess trained in traditional Hatha yoga teaching practices. Samyak India roots teachers in the traditional eight limb practice of yoga, wherein the physical practice is just one limb. This traditional practice is combined with the use of modern tools for facing today's challenges for leading a yogic lifestyle, giving teachers a strong foundation for compassionate and resourceful teaching in their own communities.
After many years of building our own self-practice and then becoming Samyak and Yoga Alliance certified teachers, we are thrilled to share these beautiful practices with you.

About this retreat's teachers:

Siri Larson, 200 RYT:  Native to Alaska, Siri was introduced to yoga in 2006.  After living and practicing in Taiwan, she became a 200 RYT in May 2013. She teaches traditional Hatha yoga and often includes creative sequencing, nontraditional music pairings and strengthening for a more invigorating class.   As a musician and dancer, Siri is especially interested in how the breath takes practitioners to new levels in their practice, physically, expressively, and spiritually, and how it opens them up to themselves.  She is committed to guiding students of all backgrounds in furthering yogic ways to foster self awareness, community, and purposeful living.

Jess Frank, 200 RYT: Hailing from MontanaJess has practiced yoga for over eight years. But in July of 2011, she moved to Southern India, where her yoga practice found a particularly nurturing and expansive new home. She continued to live and practice there for two years, working with traditional Hatha and Ashtanga teachers until her teacher training with Samyak Yoga in 2013. She incorporates Hatha, Ashtanga, and fun partner yoga postures into her teaching and always ends her classes with pranayama and other relaxation techniques.
